People began giving themselves to Jesus as saving Lord by repenting, being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer (2:42). The Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved (2:47). When needs arose, Jesus’ apostles had the congregation select men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom to put in charge (6:3).
So, our congregation’s elders call upon our active, adult members to select our next senior minister. They recommend Quentin Byers. God willing, he will preach in worship, March 19. Our active members will make their decision by vote after worship on March 26.
Each member has publicly confessed Jesus as saving Lord, been baptized by immersion into Jesus Christ and asked to be this church’s member. Adult members are at least 18 years old. Active members have taken the Lord’s Supper with this congregation at least 13 of the last 26 weeks.
The elders and I welcome hearing from members. God willing I will keep on actively assisting this congregation and the new man in all the ministries our Lord entrusts to us.
