Level Ground

It has been my practice for a decade or two to each week write and personally sign a note of uplift in Jesus to people who missed out on worshiping with us this most recent Sunday. I got that basic idea from Leonard Wymore, who is the uncle of my wifeJoyce. He had a great influence for Jesus on many, many people. He died in Tennessee over a week ago at age 95. At Jesus’ feet is level ground. I mean Christians such as Joyce and I are not by nature wiser or more moral than those around us. We […]

Unlikable People

Question: What do you do when you don’t like someone but you have to love them in Christ anyway? I feel really bad because there is someone who drives me crazy and everytime they talk I just want to choke them to death. I am not sure why they evoke such a strong reaction in me. I am trying to pray for them since I don’t like them. Response: Love is godly because you do it to the unlovely, otherwise it would just be liking them. That person was created in God’s image. Look hard, surely you can see some […]

Sacrifices in Mosaic Law

Question: What did they do with the sacrifices? Did they just burn them? Did they eat them? What exactly was the purpose of giving a sacrifice? To seek forgiveness? To show worship to God? Or to get prayers answered? Oh, and what’s the deal with incense? Response: Apart from meat sacrifices, there were also grain (or flour) and oil sacrifices and money was given. The regulations on a few meat sacrifices required that it be entirely burned, but in most cases only the fatty portions and some organs were burned. The meat was eaten, sometimes by the priests and Levites […]

Lazarus Resurrected

QUESTION: Lazarus is one of the first official dead guys brought back to life. Lazarus was dead for a few days. Was it winter or summer? I am assuming Lazarus came back to life and looked normal, not all green and rotting. So, not only did Jesus bring him back from the dead, He restored his physical body too. Where was Lazarus when he was dead? What did Lazarus think when he came back to life? How much longer did he live? Did God kill him just for the purpose of having Jesus bring him back to life to show […]

Demons

QUESTION: So where do demons come from? RESPONSE: So far as I understand, demons are timeless angels or spirits created to serve at God’s will, who chose rather to willfully act in rebellion against God according to Satan’s will and so were permanently excluded from God. We now have several copies of two brochures on our information table by a former medium, Ben Alexander, which you might be interested in. They don’t explain everything, but they do touch on these subjects: (1) “Crossing Over or Double Crossed” and (2) “What Your Spirit Guide Doesn’t Want You to Know!”

Heaven & Hell

QUESTION: Before Jesus did everyone go to hell? Where did they go? When the devil gets cast down into the lake of fire will he be getting punished? Or will he be reigning in it? Is he reigning currently in hell? What will happen to all the demons? WHo are the demons? Bad angels? Did Satan create them like God created man? So the only way to heaven is through faith in Jesus? Right? So anyone who does not believe in Jesus or has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, will be sent to hell forever and forever? Right? […]

Fish Symbol

QUESTION: Hey, what’s the deal with the “Jesus fish”? How did that symbol come about? RESPONSE: The first letter in the original Greek language of the words Jesus = I, Christ = X, God = TH, Son = U, and Savior = S spell: IXTHUS, which is the Greek word for fish. It became a way for Christians to recognize each other while not triggering attacks from persecutors. Other methods have also been used through the years.

When your grown child does bad

QUESTION: In Mathew 18:6 It says that if you cause a little one to sin it would be better if you drowned yourself. What exactly does that mean? I feel like I am to blame for son’s troubles. I can’t turn my back on my son and I love him. I feel responsible, but I don’t want to enable him. I don’t want to give up hope, but I keep getting disappointed. Will I be punished for screwing up my son’s life? How can I reconcile all these mixed emotions? What can I do for him? I know that at […]
