Real Matters

Mountain climbing expert guide Michael Zanger sat in our Hong Kong living room after climbing in the Himalayas and told Joyce and I fascinating accounts. One was actually of leading some super-achievers in their careers up northern California’s Mount Shasta. One man was having great difficulty breathing. His face color was unusual. Frequent stops for rest did not seem to help. As they continued the climb, his breathing was punctuated by coughing and spitting froth mixed with blood. To make matters worse, a sudden snowstorm confined them to hastily erected tents. Michael thought the man might die of heart failure. […]

I’m learning not to tell about the labor pains. People just want to see the “baby” 🙂       It’s the little extra something that makes a day complete; It’s the little extra smile that makes the face look sweet,       It’s the little extra handshake and then a glad “Hello” That makes friends glad to come and then regret to go.       It’s a little extra effort which gets a job well done. Through a little extra praying a lost soul may be won.   Lord, teach us that simplest act carried thru Of hand or mind or spoken word […]

Do the math

As I type this, the total solar eclipse is in process. What are the odds … that a planet would be at such a perfect location to its sun so that life could thrive like this planet? … whose moon’s surface so reflects its sun that it gives such brilliant light to the night sky? … whose orbit so perfectly chases its sun as to reflect that light to the planet AND rarely eclipse it? … whose proportional location between the planet and its sun would make it neither too large or too small to so perfectly eclipse its […]

Are you in?                                                                     July 31, 2017 When it comes to …                            let us be … Faith in Jesus      …       united      🙂 Obeying Jesus    …        loyal        🙂 Opinions            …       allowing     🙂 Daily living         …       caring        🙂 Why? It is because in every neighborhood, no matter how intelligent residents may be, many residents don’t know enough of God’s plain way to all His grand plans through Jesus for which He created them. And, even some people who have known have gotten distracted and sidetracked. Jesus said He’d come to seek and to save […]

Founders Revival

The word revival may be in disrepute since cheaters apply revival to their pompous nonsense and psychological trickery. They rip revival away from clear Bible teaching of Jesus’ valuable gift and from sincere and serious urging to entrust selves to Jesus. Nothing so revives persons, households, families, neighborhoods and workplaces like a revival assuring them of sins’ hell destiny and of being saved by Lord Jesus. It shrivels ignorance about Jesus and heartless apathy. It drains away floods of godless evil and ethnic prejudices. It gives purpose for actively fruitful living. So many many Boiseans need revival. Nothing so revives former Christians and Jesus’ church fervor […]

He knows

Psalm 139:1-6 is a section of scripture that focuses on helping us to see and stand in awe of the great and complex nature of God. Within these six verses, we see just how powerful God is. He knows our very thoughts and is guiding us through this life. God’s vast ability to fully know and understand each and every person on this planet is mindboggling. He knows just how we think, just how we act, and just how we are feeling. What an amazing God we serve who in spite of all our imperfections He still chooses to have […]

On guard

I once bought a bag full of repair supplies and tools along with a large piece of plywood. It was hard to carry it all, so I set aside the plywood, took the supplies on ahead and came back or the unguarded plywood. Someone had taken it:( My eyes filled with tears. You may know someone who lost a bicycle or a purse in a similar way. Our most precious items are even easier to lose because they are less concrete treasures like joy, peace, a friendship and God’s everlasting purpose. These treasures get lost in the rushes of our […]

Troubles

Culturally rejected, evil upbringing, poorly trained, personality disorder, learning disability, genetic defect and physical injury are all big troubles — for this world. Still, one big truth that our heavenly Father brings across over and over throughout the Bible is that none of these have to get in the way of Jesus bearing much good fruit through a person! None! Each of those troubles has proven for many victims to be the very springboards of the good that comes out of them through Jesus. Indeed, such troubles have not kept them from have a good influence on many people. For […]

Broad Shoulders

A mayor had handsome sons. They may have defended needed crops so raiders killed them. But the youngest, Gideon, maybe hid in fear praying! He was left with the gore of burying brothers’ remains, the guilt of not dying like them and the grind of fixing food in a hideout to survive. In response to prayers: The angel of the Lord said to him, “The Lord is with you, O valiant warrior.”  Those words drew out Gideon’s bitterness: The Lord has abandoned us. The Lord said: “Have I not sent you?”  Again Gideon vented: “My family is the least, and […]

Hi there

Since we missed you worshiping Jesus with us on Sunday and growing in His Word and in church family fellowship, I’m sending you this bit of encouragement along with the Bible message in print and the June 4th bulletin : Psalm 46 says Yahweh God who saves (Jesus) is a very present help in trouble. He calls each of us personally to far deeper growth than just knowing stuff. He says: Be still (or stop wrestling) and know that I am God! It doesn’t matter whether you are troubled by life-threatening illness, too much month at the end of the […]
